| Summary: This is the first use of amber light-emitting diode (LED) side-marker lamps in automotive forward lighting. The application achieves a unique vehicle styling, lighting performance (higher brightness), and brand statement. A strip of 7 amber, long-life and low-power LEDs are packaged vertically in a metalized polycarbonate housing behind an amber polycarbonate lens. The assembly is then protected by a UV-stabilized and hard-coated clear polycarbonate outer lens. | |||
